St Bathans - 1/2 hr
Gold was discovered near St Bathans in 1862. At its peak it had some forty business 'houses,' ten hotels and
approximately 1000 residents.

Danseys Pass - 1/2 hr
The old coach inn has a colourful history traced back to the 1860s, when it serviced a multi-cultural gold prospecting community of 2000. Check out this video.

Naseby - 1/4 hr
Another old mining town from 1860s with wonderful old buildings, Settler Museum, luge, car museum, mountain biking tracks and several pubs.

Curling or swimming - 1/4 hr
Naseby has two contrasting activities: Swimming and curling. Swim in the dam and curling at the international rink. People here take curling serious!

Moeraki - 1 1/2 hr
Moeraki is an attractive fishing village on the east coast. Visit Fleur's Place, an ecclectic restaurant situated right on the harbour. Buy her book and get her to sign it!

Queenstown- 1 1/2 hr
Even Queenstown is a nice day out! And you will find half a dozen stunning wineries with restaurants on the way.

Moeraki Boulders - 1 1/4 hr
A little north of Moeraki you will find the Moeraki Boulders, huge spherical stones scattered over the sandy beaches - a geological wonder.

Mt Difficulty Wines - 1 1/4 hr
So you are a bit of a wine buff! Many great vineyards are within easy reach by car. Taste the Pinot Noir at Mt Difficulty Wines and enjoy lunch at their restaurant with a fabulous view from their outdoor dining area.

Wanaka- 1 1/2 hr
Situated on Lake Wanaka, this is a stunning place to visit. One highlight is the New Zealand Fighter Pilots Museum. Every second year Wanaka hosts the Warbirds over Wanaka Airshow.
